Daviess Court Release Records
Daviess District Court and Daviess Circuit Court are legal forums, not jails. The Daviess Circuit Court Clerk maintains their records. A criminal file can retain the complaint, bond action, disposition, judgment, sentence, jail-time credit, probation terms, dismissal, and later amendment. Those documents can explain why Daviess County Detention Center received authority to release or transfer someone.
The court record and custody record answer different questions. A signed order can authorize release, yet another warrant, detainer, or administrative step may prevent immediate departure. DCDC’s executed release sheet shows the local event. Kentucky DOC records show a state release. A federal docket and the relevant federal agency record cover federal custody.
| Question | Best court record | Needed corroboration |
|---|---|---|
| Was bond authorized? | Bond order or docket entry | DCDC executed record |
| Was the case dismissed? | Dismissal order | Check other holds |
| Was probation imposed? | Judgment or sentencing order | KOOL or District 13 status |
| Was time served credited? | Judgment and credit notation | Jail or DOC calculation |
Find a Daviess Court Order
Begin with the CourtNet public case-search entry. Search the person, then compare county, case number, charge, and disposition. A name match alone is weak because one person can have several cases and two people can share a name. CourtNet is a case index and summary tool. Obtain the judgment or order from the clerk when authoritative wording matters.
- Search the name and narrow the result to Daviess County.
- Record the complete case number and court division.
- Review disposition and event descriptions without guessing from abbreviations.
- Ask the clerk for the judgment, bond, dismissal, or later order by case number.
- Compare the order with the executed record from the agency that held the person.
A court order may authorize release, but only the holding agency can confirm the completed custody event.
The full Daviess County released-inmate search explains how to join the court result to DCDC, DOC, VINE, or federal records.
Daviess Court Clerk Contact
The official Daviess court directory identifies the local divisions, phones, address, and hours. Use the case number when calling. Ask for the exact document rather than requesting a broad criminal history. The clerk can explain available copying procedures but cannot provide legal advice or guarantee when a jail will finish processing an order.

The Kentucky Court of Justice Request Court Records page describes the statewide clerk path and notes that storage and retention can affect access. Court records from 1978 forward generally follow Court of Justice practices. Judicial records are not requested under the identical process used for a county executive agency.
Daviess District Release Timing
The 2026 DCDC Inmate Handbook says releases linked to Daviess District Court dates generally begin after 7:00 p.m. as a group. It identifies District Court dates as Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. That local operating detail is not a guarantee for a named person.
Paper transmission, identity checks, a second case, another county warrant, a state or federal hold, medical needs, and jail processing can affect departure. DCDC also states that future release dates for current inmates are not given because dates can change. A past inmate’s executed date is public. The order supplies authority; the DCDC record supplies the completed local date and time.
Daviess Bond Record Path
Daviess divides bond payment by clerk hours. The Holbrook Judicial Center accepts bonds on weekdays from 8:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. DCDC accepts them when the clerk is closed, including weekends and the daily period from 4:00 p.m. through 8:00 a.m. The handbook says jail bond and court-fine payments are cash only. Confirm current terms before travel.
A bond docket entry shows legal and financial action. It does not prove the person cleared every hold or exited the jail. Kentucky Pretrial Services operates statewide and gives the judge a risk assessment and release recommendation. That recommendation is not a physical-release record. Pair the court entry with the DCDC past-inmate date or written release sheet.
Daviess Sentencing Records
A sentencing order can show the imposed term, concurrent or consecutive structure, probation, and credit for time served. For a local sentence, obtain the judgment, jail-time credit, and DCDC executed date. Do not apply a Kentucky DOC projected date or state sentence-credit rule to someone who never entered the state-sentence system.
For a state-sentenced person held at DCDC, DOC calculates the release milestones. The court judgment begins the legal framework, but KOOL and the DOC calculation control the state status. Parole eligibility, a proposed date, minimum expiration, maximum expiration, and actual release are separate fields. Preserve each label.
Daviess Probation Orders
Probation is ordered by a court and does not necessarily follow a prison stay. The judgment should state the term and conditions. Kentucky DOC District 13 administers community supervision in Owensboro, so KOOL may later show that office as the person’s location. District 13 is not detention.
A probation order should not be called a parole release. Parole follows a correctional sentence and Board process. Shock probation, home incarceration, and mandatory reentry supervision also have their own legal bases. When the label matters, quote the judgment and the current DOC status instead of replacing them with the broad word “released.”
- Disposition
- The court’s resolution of a charge or case.
- Time served
- Custody credit applied as the judgment directs.
- Remand
- An order sending a person into custody.
- Expungement
- A legal process that removes or limits covered records under law.
Orders Versus Custody Transfers
A Daviess court file does not track every later state, federal, or immigration movement. A person can leave DCDC for DOC, U.S. Marshals, BOP, another jail, or ICE custody. That departure is not community release. The destination agency’s record must be checked.
A federal case belongs in the federal docket, often through PACER, rather than Daviess CourtNet. An immigration detainer is a federal civil-custody matter. State sentence and supervision entries belong in KOOL. Use the Daviess court file for the Daviess criminal proceeding and avoid stretching it into a universal locator.
Daviess Expunged Court Records
Kentucky expungement can lawfully remove a once-visible official trail. The Court of Justice expungement page explains certification, filing, and automatic processes. Qualifying dismissal-with-prejudice and acquittal matters arising under the covered post-July 15, 2020 framework can be automatically expunged 30 days after disposition. The order is distributed to the arresting agency and local jail.
A missing case or booking after expungement is not evidence that the former system failed. Sealed, juvenile, and other restricted material also follows special rules. Ask the clerk what public document remains available. Do not infer the original disposition from a third-party copy when the official record has lawfully changed.
Daviess Court Record Requests
A focused clerk request should name the court, complete case number, party, and exact document. Useful release-related targets include a bond order, dismissal order, judgment, sentencing order, probation order, credit-for-time-served notation, or later amendment. Asking for the signed order is stronger than relying only on a CourtNet event label or an abbreviation whose meaning is unclear.
Storage and retention can affect how quickly an older file is produced. The judicial branch follows its own access rules, rather than the same executive-agency procedure DCDC uses under the Kentucky Open Records Act. A clerk response may also withhold or restrict sealed, expunged, juvenile, or otherwise protected material. Those access limits do not authorize reconstruction from unrelated public records.
Once the order is obtained, compare its effective language to the correct custody event. DCDC can confirm a local departure. Kentucky DOC can confirm a state discharge or supervised release. A federal court order belongs with the BOP or U.S. Marshals trail. This comparison distinguishes permission to release from completed release.
Daviess Case Date Changes
A later court order can amend a sentence, correct jail-time credit, address a new conviction, or change probation. Those actions can alter a projected custody date without proving error or manipulation. Consecutive and concurrent sentence language also affects a state calculation.
Keep the filing date, effective language, and case number with the document. Then check the later jail or DOC field. A court docket entry shows when an action was recorded; it should not be presented as the exact doors-out time unless the executed custody record supports that conclusion.
